Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in Bayern’s last three matches as well as three of their last four Champions League home games. The hosts are not as strong as they once were and, given that both teams have netted in six of Lazio’s last seven away games in this competition, it could pay to back that same outcome on Tuesday.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Bayern could only muster up a draw with an inconsistent Freiburg side in their latest outing and the Bavarians are really struggling for form. Lazio have won two of their last three away games and prevented Thomas Tuchel’s side from even managing a shot on target in the first-leg, suggesting they may have enough to qualify from this tie.

Bayern Munich vs Lazio Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in Bayern Munich’s last three games and three of their last four home games in this competition
  • Lazio have never won a Champions League match in Germany, drawing two and losing the other two
  • Bayern have made it through 11 of their 12 most recent Champions League last-16 ties
  • Both teams have scored in six of Lazio’s last seven away games in this competition

Back both teams to net in Bavaria

Bayern Munich’s 1-0 defeat to Lazio in Rome was the middle leg of a three-game losing streak for the Bavarians and it certainly was a night to forget for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

They failed to register a single shot on target at Stadio Olimpico and their form has not improved much more since, drawing with an inconsistent Freiburg side in the Bundesliga on Friday night.

However, while they unable to even test Ivan Provedel in the first-leg, they are pretty ruthless in front of goal at the Allianz Arena and they should be able to find the net and keep their quarter-final hopes alive on Tuesday.

Bayern have scored 45 goals in their 15 home games this season, suggesting they should give the Munich faithful something to cheer in the second-leg.

Second leg to stage more of a spectacle

But they are unlikely to be alone in making the net bulge in Bavaria, as Lazio have more than enough talent in their ranks to make their mark.

The Roman outfit have scored in six of their last seven games and have seen both sides find the net in six of their last seven Champions League away games.

The first-leg saw very little action, but this second-leg has so much on the line. Bayern must win if they are to end a disappointing season well, and that lust for attack may leave them exposed at the back, suggesting it is worth backing both teams to score in Munich.
