Barcelona and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

La Liga leaders Barcelona have won 14 of their last 15 matches and boast one of the best attacks in Europe, so it is hard to see them failing to pick up all three points in Alicante. Elche last failed to score in a match in October, though, so there is hope they can net in defeat.

Barcelona 3-1

Reason for tip

While Barcelona are the much stronger side and have the power to score three goals, their only two clean sheets in six matches have come against second-tier Racing Santander and La Liga’s bottom-club Real Oviedo, suggesting Elche, who netted once in the reverse fixture, can grab a consolation.

Elche vs Barcelona Predictions

  • Barcelona have won 14 of their last 15 games in all competitions
  • Both teams to score has landed in each of Elche’s last five matches
  • Barca have managed just two clean sheets in six matches

Barcelona bound to prove too strong for hosts

A bright start to the campaign saw promoted Elche take 13 points from their opening seven matches but the wheels have come off since, with Los Franjiverdes picking up just 11 points in their subsequent 14 games.

That record is unlikely to improve this weekend either as they take on leaders Barcelona, who have flexed their sizable attacking muscles since a shock loss to Real Sociedad, scoring 11 goals when winning their three games since.

Barca will have the title on their mind and Hansi Flick’s side should enjoy themselves in Alicante this Saturday.

Elche to contribute to exciting encounter

That enjoyment may be reserved for attacking stars like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, however, as their defence has looked shaky of late.

Barcelona have managed just two clean sheets in six games and with those coming against second-tier Racing Santander and La Liga basement boys Real Oviedo, there is a good chance Elche will give their supporters something to cheer.

Eder Sarabia’s side have scored in 16 straight games and should find the net, bringing a repeat of Barca’s 3-1 win in the reverse fixture into play from a correct-score perspective.
