Barcelona and Both Teams To Score - No

Reason for tip

Elche have lost eight of their 13 games since Christmas, failing to score in seven of those defeats, while Barca have won to nil eight times on the road in the league this season, as well as keeping clean sheets in three of their last four fixtures

Barcelona 2-0

Reason for tip

Elche have conceded at least twice in four of their last eight games, failing to score in four as well. Barca on the other hand have kept three clean sheets in their last four outings and scored at least twice in five of their 13 away matches

Elche vs Barcelona Predictions

  • Elche have failed to score in seven of their 13 games since Christmas
  • Barcelona have won three of their last four matches 1-0
  • Barca have the best defensive record in La Liga, conceding just nine goals

Elche like a lamb to the slaughter

It could barely be a harder return from the international break for beleaguered Elche, who sit bottom of the table and are tasked with taking on the team running away with the title.

It has been a miserable campaign for ‘Los Franjiverdes’, who have picked up just 13 points from 26 games, while their total of 19 goals is the lowest in the division.

Indeed, even the arrival of a new manager, Pablo Machín in November, has struggled to raise spirits, with his side now failing to score in seven of their last 13 games.

Eight of those outings have ended in defeat, while they have accumulated a La Liga low of only seven points on home soil, losing eight times in 13 outings.

Will the Barcelona procession continue?

Barcelona on the other hand are strolling towards the title, with their last-gasp 2-1 win over Real Madrid before the international break opening up a 12 point lead at the top of the table.

Xavi’s side have still only conceded nine times in the league this season, while three of their last four games across all competitions have ended in a 1-0 victory.

Indeed, goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen is having quite the campaign, with the Catalans picking up a remarkable 19 clean sheets so far, while on the road they have won to nil on eight occasions.

I predict that Barcelona will win this game without conceding, but they haven’t been at their free-flowing best in attack of late, so 2-0 is my correct score prediction.
