      Besiktas vs Wolves Predictions

Besiktas’ trip to Slovan Bratislava last month reinforced their affinity for high scoring European games. The Turkish side suffered a 4-2 defeat in that group stage opener, although with the hosts’ final 2 goals coming in injury time you have to feel it was a little harsh on Besiktas.

Now, with a hosting of Wolves on the cards and no points on the board, the Super Lig giants will be keen to get back on track in this rather tough looking Europa League group.

It’s the goals we’re interested in here though. Besiktas have seen at least 3 goals in 10 of their last 14 Europa League games in the group stages and beyond. There have been 26 goals in their 7 Europa League games since the beginning of last season’s group stages, averaging 3.71 goals per game.

Wolves aren’t unfamiliar with high scoring affairs themselves, especially this season. The Europa League newcomers seem to have abandoned their defensive mentality in the Europa League, seeing a total of 24 goals in their 7 matches so far this season.

All but 2 of these matches have ended with at least 3 goals on the scoresheet, and after their dismal 1-0 defeat at home to Braga last time out they will be eager to set the record straight and boost their qualification chances.

We’re expecting an entertaining clash at the Vodafone Arena, and with Wolves’ Europa League games this season averaging 3.42 goals per game, we think backing Over 2.5 Goals is the way to go here.

Besiktas do have an impressive record against English opposition though, winning 3 and drawing 1 of their last 4 European clashes with them. They have also won 8 of their last 10 Europa League home matches, so we think backing a 2-1 win for the Turkish side is the best bet in the correct score market.
