Blackburn Rovers vs Burton Albion Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

We may only be 3 games into the new Championship season but already this feels like a massive game for Blackburn Rovers and new boss Owen Coyle. Some calamitous defending has seen them losing all of their first three league matches and they’ve conceded 9 goals in the process. They were at least much more competitive in midweek at Cardiff, going down only 2-1 following 3 goal margins of defeat in their opening two games.

They once again shot themselves in the foot though in a game which centre-back Shane Duffy will remember as long as he lives, but for all the wrong reasons! He scored two own goals and was sent off in the closing stages to cap a miserable evening for the Irishman and one that came just 4 days after he’d also found his own net in the 3-0 defeat at Wigan.

A home game against newly promoted Burton Albion should provide Blackburn with a good opportunity to get some points on the board, but the East Midlands side have already shown enough to suggest they will at least be competitive at this level. They beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 in midweek to get their first points of the season and were also competitive in their opening two games, losing by one goal against Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.

With both sides looking shaky at the back, you have to fancy there’ll be a few goals here. Both teams have scored in all of Burton’s matches so far this season and in 3 of Blackburn’s 4 so backing both teams to score at 5/6 looks to offer real value here.
