Boca Juniors vs Independiente Medellin Predictions
- Boca Juniors are unbeaten in 8 competitive matches, of which they’ve won 6.
- During said run, Boca have scored an average of 2.12 goals a game whilst conceding just twice.
- Independiente Medellin haven’t won any of their last 7 away games.
- Independiente Medellin have lost 4 of their last 5 away games to nil.
Boca looking to pick up 3 points
It was a great weekend for Boca Juniors, as they pipped arch rivals River Plate to the Superliga Argentina title on the final day. Nonetheless, El Xeneize must quickly re-focus and turn their attentions to Libertadores action, given they only managed a draw away to Caracas last week and could really do with winning Wednesday’s match.
Expecting to top a group containing Independiente Medellin, Libertad and Caracas, Boca cannot afford to drop points again this week but confidence can be high coming into the clash. Indeed, Miguel Angel Russo’s men are unbeaten in 8 matches, winning an impressive 6 times in the process.
Independiente Medellin hoping to cause an upset
Meanwhile, Independiente Medellin only sneaked into the group phase of the Libertadores via a penalty win over Atletico Tucuman and their start to it last week left a lot to be desired. The Colombians fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Libertad and said result already leaves their hopes of reaching the knockout phase looking bleak.
Indeed, now needing to pick up a result on the road, DIM’s travelling record leaves little reason for inspiration and has them heading into this trip to Buenos Aires low on confidence. All in all, the visitors haven’t won any of their last 7 away games and have also lost 4 of their last 5 trips without even so much as scoring.
Boca have to be fancied
Ultimately, now that they’ve wrapped the domestic title up, Boca can fully focus on the Libertadores and this game is one they’ll view as must win. Man for man, they are by far a better team than Independiente Medellin and they’ll be looking to translate that into what we see over the 90 minutes.
All things considered, backing a Boca win to nil looks the best way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do. Boca have conceded just 2 goals over their last 8 matches and with DIM struggling massively for goals on the road, a home clean sheet looks likely in a 2-0 margin of a victory.
