Borussia Dortmund to Win

Reason for tip

Borussia Dortmund have made a strong start to the year, losing only one of their ten games in 2024, and they can make home advantage count against PSV in this last-16 second leg encounter.

Borussia Dortmund 2-1

Reason for tip

Goals could be on the cards at Signal Iduna Park with Dortmund having scored in each of their last six matches, so back a 2-1 win for the home side.

Borussia Dortmund vs PSV Predictions

  • Borussia Dortmund have lost just one of their ten games in 2024
  • PSV have won only two of their seven matches in this term’s Champions League
  • Borussia Dortmund have found the net in each of their last six fixtures

Dortmund can make home advantage count

PSV more than held their own in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Borussia Dortmund but they may regret not making the most of home advantage.

The club from Eindhoven drew 1-1 with Dortmund at the Philips Stadion, leaving the tie evenly poised ahead of the second leg in Germany.

But facing Dortmund’s Yellow Wall is no easy task and the Bundesliga club should win the second leg and progress.

Not only did Dortmund come through an incredibly challenging group in the Champions League, topping Group F ahead of PSG, Milan and Newcastle, but they have also hit a decent patch of form this year.

They have lost only one of their ten matches in 2024, winning six of those games, including a 2-1 win away to Werder Bremen on Saturday.

They have plenty of options going forwards from Jadon Sancho to Donyell Malen to Marco Reus and they can make their added European experience count at Signal Iduna Park.

PSV underwhelming in Champions League this term

PSV have enjoyed some decent results on the road recently, beating PEC Zwolle 7-1 last month, but Dortmund represent a serious step-up in quality and PSV were hardly barnstorming in their Champions League group, winning only two of their six games.

A home win is the way to go but both teams should find the net as they did in the first leg and a 2-1 win to Dortmund could represent correct score value.
