Reason For Cardiff vs AFC Bournemouth Predictions

  • Four of Cardiff’s five games this term have produced fewer than 2.5 goals.
  • The hosts have kept three clean sheets in five, with the visitors keeping two in their five starts.
  • The sides have already played out one goalless draw each this season.

Bluebirds to keep things tight again

Unbeaten Bournemouth were held to a goalless draw by QPR at Dean Court on Saturday and The Cherries may well be frustrated again on Wednesday night when they travel to face Cardiff in the Welsh capital.

While Bournemouth would’ve been disappointed not to claim all three points at the weekend, it’s been a decent start overall to life back in the second tier for The Cherries under the stewardship of new manager Jason Tindall.

They sit nicely in third on eleven points heading into the midweek round of fixtures and you already sense that they will be there for the long haul this term. Nonetheless, Saturday’s result along with a draw at Boro and narrow wins against Norwich and Blackburn suggest that Tindall’s charges aren’t going to blow many teams out of the water either.

And that certainly shouldn’t be the case against Cardiff, who got back on track with a hard fought 0-1 success at Preston on Sunday. Neil Harris’ side are a tough and tenacious outfit that aren’t involved in many high scoring affairs. Just one of their five games to date have featured over 2.5 goals and the Welsh outfit have conceded a total of just four goals across those outings, keeping three clean sheets.

With Bournemouth also maintaining two shut outs in five games thus far, Wednesday’s clash looks a potentially grinding encounter and under 2.5 goals is the obvious pick. The sides have already played out a goalless draw this season and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise were they to contribute to another here – especially as a draw would likely satisfy both managers.
