This game has significance at both ends of the table. Birmingham are outsiders to make the play-offs while Charlton are outsiders to beat the drop but neither will have given up on their respective ambitions yet. They are 6 points behind 6th place Sheffield Wednesday but do still have a game in hand on the sides directly above them and will know they really need to win this to stay in the hunt but they will need to improve on their recent showings, particularly on the road.

The Blues haven’t scored in any of their last 5 away matches although did manage to scrap their way to three 0-0 draws in that period. There have been under 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 8 games at the Valley and 2 of the last 4 have also ended in goalless draws. There have been under 2.5 goals in all of Birmingham’s last 7 matches and all of their last 5 away. Therefore the stats point to a low-scoring contest and backing under 2.5 goals at 8/11 looks a solid idea here.
