Charlton vs Derby Betting Tips & Predictions

Charlton simply have to win this and quite probably all their remaining games to have any chance of staying up. They cannot be mathematically relegated on Saturday but if they lose to the Rams they might as well start planning for life in League One. They have actually been quite competitive over the past month or so and they’d lost just once in 6 league outings prior to last weekend’s narrow London derby defeat at QPR. It’s too little too late though it would seem with 10 points separating them from safety. They have though won their last two home games beating Middlesbrough and Birmingham so Derby would be wise not to take this lightly.

The Rams do come into the match after two convincing home wins which have eased the nerves in the East Midlands with Derby fans fearing a repeat of last season’s late decline that saw them miss out on the play-offs. A 4-0 win over Hull and a 4-1 win against Bolton last weekend should give them plenty of confidence going into this but their away form has been very poor and they’ve only won once on the road in the league since Christmas.

With Derby looking very dangerous going forward and scoring plenty of goals in their last few games they could well punish the league’s 2nd worst defence though. Charlton have little choice but to be positive and try and win the game so it could lead to quite an open affair with the potential for goals at both ends. Derby’s last 5 league games have produced 19 goals and they certainly seem to have thrown caution to the wind a little more and therefore backing there to be over 2.5 goals at 5/6 looks a good shout here.
