Chelsea and Both Teams To Score

      Reason for tip

Chelsea are fantastic coming forward, evidenced by their tally of 16 goals scored in five matches this season, but they are defensively fragile and have conceded eight times across their last three outings. The Blues’ two league wins have seen both teams score while Wednesday’s EFL Cup victory against Leeds ended in a 6-3 scoreline. Hull have enough about them to grab a consolation at Stamford Bridge but the Tigers’ pristine defensive record looks set to be blemished.

      Chelsea 3-1

      Reason for tip

Chelsea have been rampant in front of goal and they can add to their tally when hosting Hull City. The Blues are averaging 3.22 goals per game and the attacking threat in their side will be too much to handle for the Tigers, who can at least get on the scoresheet against an opposition defence with seven goals conceded in the league.

      Cole Palmer To Score Anytime

      Reason for tip

Cole Palmer led the fightback in Chelsea’s 6-3 EFL Cup win over Leeds on Wednesday, coming on at half-time and scoring twice in three minutes. The England international has four goals in five appearances this season and he looks capable of continuing his fine form against Hull.

      Chelsea vs Hull City Predictions

      • Chelsea are the joint top-goalscorers in the Premier League season with eight goals
      • Hull City are the only team yet to concede in the top flight
      • The Blues thrashed the Tigers 4-0 when they met in the FA Cup in February

Hull’s defence set to crack at Stamford Bridge

It has been a fantastic return to the Premier League for Hull City, who have collected seven points from their opening three matches and are the only team yet to concede a goal.

That defensive resilience which has produced clean sheets against Manchester United, Coventry and Aston Villa will be put to the test by a free-scoring Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Head coach Xabi Alonso may not have sorted out the Blues defensively – just one clean sheet in five matches evidence of this – but his side have been irresistible going forward with no fewer than 16 goals scored.

Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro are just three of the attacking options available to the former Real Madrid boss, who guided his team to a 6-3 win over Leeds in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

Palmer and Rogers were both impressive against the Whites, with the former netting twice in three minutes to bring his side level and the latter picking up three assists.

The English pair have made strong starts to the season and they are both a solid shout to score or assist against Hull.

Three of Chelsea’s four wins this season have seen them score at least three times, while four of their five matches have seen goals at both ends.

Attack is the best form of defence for the Blues and even though they are facing a team yet to concede in the league, it would be a surprise should the hosts not rack up a few more goals.

Hull have given up opportunities in their first three matches and they have perhaps been fortunate Man Utd, Coventry and Villa have not had their shooting boots on.

The Tigers were thumped 4-0 by Chelsea when they met at the MKM Stadium in the FA Cup in February, extending the Blues’ winning streak against Hull to nine games.

Hull will be no pushovers, though, and they should be able to get on the scoresheet against this leaky Chelsea backline, but the extra attacking quality the Blues have should see them come out on top in an entertaining affair.
