Chelsea vs Hull Predictions
Chelsea returned to Premier League action in style last weekend as they comprehensively beat Leicester 3-0 at the King Power Stadium. This was their first league match since their defeat to Spurs at the start of the month which ended their huge 13 match winning streak in the Premier League.
It was obvious from their demolition of Peterborough in the FA Cup that Antonio Conte wasn’t allowing his players to wallow though, and the 3-0 win over Leicester was yet more evidence of that. That victory was without Diego Costa as well, but despite rumours regarding a potential move to China, the Spain striker is set to return to the squad here.
Chelsea have now won 13 of their last 14 matches in all competitions, a record which has put them a commanding seven points clear at the top of the Premier League. Without any upcoming European football to distract them the title is theirs to lose at this point.
Hull looked to be in serious trouble a few weeks ago, but the appointment of Marco Silva at the helm has brought with it some rather promising performances. They beat Bournemouth 3-1 at home last weekend, and although they lost to Manchester United in the League Cup semi final first leg, the 2-0 win over Swansea the weekend before showed signs of a potential resurgence.
They remain in the relegation zone in the Premier League, but Crystal Palace are only above them on goal difference and Hull are the in form team of those two. Unfortunately for Hull they do have games against Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal coming up in the Premier League.
Away from home they are still drastically low on confidence though. They have lost seven matches on the bounce in all competitions and haven’t picked up a Premier League point on the road since September. They are facing a Chelsea side who have won eight on the trot at home too, scoring a huge 26 goals and conceding just four.
Diego Costa is obviously a big part in how Chelsea play, but the more open and expansive attacking setup at Stamford Bridge suits Eden Hazard well. Seven of the Belgian’s nine league goals this season have come at home, and this makes him the top choice for our anytime goalscorer prediction at 1/1 with bet365.
A high scoring game for Chelsea looks to be on the cards too. They have netted at least three goals in eight of their 12 home games this season, including six of their last eight. Hull have conceded at least three in three of their last six on the road, so odds of 5/6 for Chelsea Over 2.5 Team Goals look good value. I’m going for that alongside a 3-0 correct score predictions at 6/1.
