Another away blow for Rooney’s Blues

Birmingham’s appointment of Wayne Rooney hasn’t really panned out all that well, with the club now in freefall. The Blues were riding high in sixth when John Eustace departed, but Rooney’s arrival has failed to kick them on to the next level.

In fact, the Blues have the worst record in the Championship since he was appointed, picking up five points from eight games and suffering five defeats in that time.

The Blues have been terrible on the road this term, losing seven consecutive away games. Only four sides have a worse return on their travels this season, making them look vulnerable going into this clash with Coventry.

The hosts have had their own – much less dramatic – slide from the playoffs to the wrong end of the table. They were 90 minutes from promotion in May, but they’ve turned around a slow start with some good results of late. Back them to have too much for a Blues side which is dropping like a stone.
