AC Milan to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
Cremonese vs AC Milan Predictions
- AC Milan have won five of their last six matches, all of which have contained over 2.5 goals.
- Cremonese are the only winless side remaining in Serie A this season.
- The hosts have seen over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six games in all competitions, scoring nine times in that sequence.
- Despite their lowly position, Cremonese rank 12th in Serie A for expected goals (15.6 xG) this season.
Rossoneri late show keeps them on track
AC Milan looked set to be denied victory by their own player when Daniel Maldini – son of Rossoneri legend Paolo – equalised at San Siro for loan club Spezia last time out. However, Olivier Giroud fired Milan to a last-gasp win (before being sent off for his celebration), keeping them within six points of leaders Napoli ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Cremonese, where Stefano Pioli’s men will be huge favourites.
Milan have now won five of their last six games in all competitions, with each of those contests featuring over 2.5 goals and four seeing both teams score. The Rossoneri’s tally of 27 goals in 13 league games is only bettered by Napoli (32) this season, though their record of just three clean sheets in their last 15 matches represents a real change from last term, when Pioli’s men sealed the Scudetto by boasting one of Europe’s best defensive records after Christmas.
Cremonese remain the only side without a win in Serie A this season, though their failings appear to be a result of their defensive shortcomings, rather than an inability to create chances – indeed, Cremonese rank 12th in Serie A for expected goals (xG) created this season, and have scored nine goals in their last six games in all competitions, four of which have contained over 25 goals. The bottom line, however, is that Cremonese have shipped 24 goals in Serie A this term, a tally only equalled by Verona ahead of Sunday’s fixtures.
Champions set for entertaining win
Given Milan’s fine goalscoring record and Cremonese’s dire defence, backing the Rossoneri to clinch yet another win from a match containing over 2.5 goals looks prudent.
Meanwhile, three of Milan’s last six games have finished with a 2-1 scoreline, and backing Pioli’s men to triumph by that score may be a decent prediction.
