Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Predictions
Crystal Palace’s hope of Premier League survival took another big blow last weekend as a late defeat at home to Everton saw them slip into the bottom three after Swansea’s shock victory. This defeat followed on from a 2-1 win over Bolton in their FA Cup Third Round replay, but that cup success will be of little comfort considering their recent overall form.
They have won one, drawn three, and lost six of their last ten games in all competitions, which included a dour goalless draw away to Bolton in their first match against them. Sam Allardyce’s renowned ability to steer a side clear of the drop zone hasn’t shown it’s face just yet.
Manchester City aren’t having the best of times either. They let a two goal lead at the Etihad slip last weekend to draw 2-2 with Spurs. This sees them remain in 5th position with an insurmountable looking 12 points between them and the top of the table.
That draw made it just two wins from their last five matches, including an horrendous 4-0 hammering at Everton a couple of weeks back. Away from home they have lost three of their last five games in all competitions, but one of their two wins in this period was a 5-0 thrashing of West Ham in the FA Cup.
Crystal Palace’s home form is even worse than their overall record too. They have won two and lost seven of their last nine games at Selhurst Park, but they have at least managed to find the net in nine of their last 12 games there. They have only kept two clean sheets in this period though.
Manchester City have conceded in 14 of their 18 trips away so far this season as well, but have only failed to find the back of the net in two of their last nine away days. A lot of this is thanks to the brilliance of Sergio Aguero. The Argentine striker has bagged 18 goals in all competitions this season, including one in their last FA Cup match. 12 of these have come away from home as well, so backing him to score anytime at 8/11 looks good for our goalscorer predictions.
Overall we’re expecting both teams to find the net though. Crystal Palace have Wilfried Zaha back after a failed African Cup of Nations campaign, bolstering an already decent attack. Considering Manchester City’s catalogue of defensive errors this season odds of 4/5 for Both Teams to Score looks very good value. I’m going for a 2-1 win for the visitors at 7/1 for my correct score predictions too.
