Nottingham Forest vs Burnley Predictions
- Forest have impressed across all four league games this term, winning twice
- Burnley have lost all three league games so far, conceding 11 times
- Awoniyi has scored in seven of his last eight league games, getting nine goals in that run
Forest out for revenge
After losing 1-0 at home to Burnley in the Carabao Cup last month, Nottingham Forest are out for revenge against the Clarets on Monday night. That win is Burnley’s single victory of the season, having lost each of their first three Premier League games.
It’s been a tough start for the Clarets, who have conceded 11 times across home defeats to Man City, Aston Villa and Tottenham. However, Forest will also be targeting this clash as an opportunity to get some points on the board, having already beaten one newly-promoted side at home this term.
Awonyi to cause problems for Clarets
Forest made a late splurge in the window but it’s one of their many signings from the summer of 2022 who is catching the eye. Taiwo Awoniyi finished last season in excellent form and he has picked up where he left off, playing a key role in Forest’s good performances this term.
Since the start of last season, Awoniyi has been involved in more Premier League goals than any other Forest player (13 goals, 2 assists). The forward has scored or assisted in each of his last eight appearances in the competition, netting nine goals in that run.
He had scored in seven straight league games going into Forest’s clash with Chelsea before the international break. While his scoring streak ended, he set up Anthony Elanga for the winner. The striker has scored four goals across Forest’s last three home league games, so back him to notch against the Clarets.
Another win for Cooper’s side
Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win over Chelsea was completely deserved, with the Tricky Trees causing so many problems on the break in that clash. While they are favourites for this clash with Burnley, Vincent Kompany’s side like to play on the front foot and they should offer Forest some opportunities to break forward with pace.
Forest have played well across their four league games this term, scaring both Arsenal and Man United on the road, winning at Chelsea and downing Sheffield United at home. With Burnley heading out on their first away trip of the campaign, this clash looks perfectly set up for Steve Cooper’s Forest. Back them to record a second win on the spin and claim some revenge for their early Carabao Cup exit.
