      Sporting Lisbon to Win

      Reason for tip

Sporting are second with 22 wins and just one defeat, and have won their last nine home games. They are unbeaten in 11 at home and have won 16 of their last 19 there. Benfica have defensive issues away, failing to keep a clean sheet in four consecutive trips.

      Sporting Lisbon 2-0

      Reason for tip

A controlled home win is supported by Sporting’s defensive strength, conceding just six goals in 13 home games and keeping seven clean sheets in their last nine there. They have also won four of their last six matches by at least a two-goal margin, pointing towards a clear victory.

      Sporting Lisbon vs Benfica Predictions

Sporting to excel at home once more

Sporting have won their last nine Primeira Liga home games and should be backed to continue their winning habit when Benfica visit Estadio Jose Alvalade on Sunday.

They are second, one place above Benfica in the table, with just a single defeat this season. Both teams have won more games than they’ve lost, with Sporting recording 22 wins and Benfica 20.

Sporting maintained their winning habit with a 1-0 victory away against Estrela last weekend, dominating the game with 66.8% possession. Daniel Braganca scored the only goal of the game on 59 minutes.

Sporting’s attack are having no problems finding the net, scoring in 49 of their last 50 league games. They have scored an average of 1.80 goals a game in their five home games against other top-half teams this season, and no team has more Primeira Liga goals overall than Sporting’s 73 in 28 games.

Sporting are in excellent form at home, having gone 11 games without defeat in the Primeira Liga and winning 16 of their last 19 on their own ground.

The hosts look solid at the back this season. Sporting have kept clean sheets in seven of their last nine home games in the Primeira Liga and have conceded just six goals in 13 home games – an average of 0.46 goals per game.

Benfica have been finding it hard to keep out their opponents lately, with four Primeira Liga away days without recording a shutout.

Sporting have won four of their last six Primeira Liga matches by at least a two-goal margin and a 2-0 home win looks the best correct-score bet.
