Derby County vs Huddersfield Town Betting Tips and Predictions

Derby have made a mixed start to life under Darren Wassall. They lost their first game under the new man going down surprisingly 1-0 at home to MK Dons before bouncing back with successive wins over Brentford and Blackburn. However they were beaten 2-1 at Wolves last time out and come into the game in 5th place with the gap between them and the top two in danger of reaching the point where their automatic promotion dreams are as good as over. This is almost certainly a must-win game for the Rams if they are to maintain hopes of a top two finish.

Huddersfield’s form has been a bit patchy. They’ve won just 2 of their last 8 matches suffering 5 defeats although one of those wins was an impressive 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest. They were beaten 1-0 at home to Ipswich last weekend though but with a 10 point lead on the bottom three they don’t have too much to worry about.

If Derby are at their best then this is a game they should be winning. The decision to replace Clement with the inexperienced Wassall until the end of the season appeared a strange one but he knows the club inside out and will at least have the supporters fully on-side. Derby still have a lot of quality in their squad and could soon be boosted by the return of the talented Will Hughes. They should have enough to win this and have a stunning home record against the Terriers but it is likely to be close so consider backing a 2-1 Derby win at 15/2.
