Everton vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
- Everton won four of five home clashes against the bottom six last term
- Forest have conceded more shots than any Premier League side so far
- The visitors have also got the highest Expected Goals against tally in the top-flight
Another big week for Forest
After claiming their first Premier League win in 23 years, Forest continued a busy summer with a £44million bid for Morgan Gibbs-White. They are set to take their spending to £150m in this window with that deal as Steve Cooper looks to build out their squad.
Now Forest face their first relegation rival in the top-flight, with Everton starting with two defeats following a tough campaign. While they haven’t matched Forest’s highs this season, the Toffees could bring the visitors back down to earth.
Vital game for Lampard
Everton’s fans are showing a lot of patience with Frank Lampard, even after the struggles they went through last season. However, the manager needs to deliver this weekend as home clashes with promoted sides are vital for a side like them.
The Toffees lost at home to Brentford and Watford last term, setbacks which they can’t repeat. However, they did win four of five home clashes with last season’s bottom six, so the hosts have good reason to be optimistic heading into Saturday’s clash.
Problems for Forest
The visitors may be fresh off a win and packed with new signings, but they have had issues adjusting to the Premier League. Forest have faced more shots than any side this season, while they’ve also got a higher Expected Goals against tally (4.03) than any other top-flight team so far.
Forest were woeful in their opening day trip to Newcastle and they needed some luck to see off West Ham last weekend. Given Everton’s record at home to struggling sides, I think they can come away with all three points. However, the hosts haven’t kept a clean sheet in five league games so back a 2-1 win.
A big difference maker for Everton last weekend was Amadou Onana, who supplied the cross for Lucas Digne’s own-goal before getting the best chance for an equaliser. The £35m man was signed as a defensive midfielder but given the impact he can have up front expect Lampard to give him some freedom to attack on Saturday. Given his bright start in Everton colours he’s a great price to score against this Forest side.
