FC Dallas vs Philadelphia Union Betting Tips & Predictions

FC Dallas narrowly missed out on everything last season. They lost the Supporters Shield to New York Red Bulls on goal difference and crashed out of the MLS playoff semi finals to eventual winners Portland Timbers.

This will have been a crushing disappointment to them, but they will have taken a lot of positives from their season. They had a fairly young squad throughout the season and enter this season with a squad full of players in the prime of their careers. This season should see them as favourites to win the Western Conference and possibly the Supporters Shield as well.

Philadelphia Union once again failed to challenge for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference last season, eventually ending the season 9th in the table and 12 points off a top six spot. Things should get better for them this season with the improving CJ Sapong and Tranquillo Barnetta in their squad, but they’ll probably still be some way off a playoff qualification.

Barnetta is injured for the opener, as is the perenial problem child that is Maurice Edu. These are two big misses, and an away match to one of the favourites for the title isn’t a particularly nice way to start the season.

An FC Dallas Win looks an inevitability in my opinion, and odds of 8/13 for them to win look good value to me. I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 7/1 as well.
