FC Eindhoven vs Almere City FC Predictions

FC Eindhoven take on Almere City at Jan Louwers Stadion this Friday, and the hosts will be looking to get up and running after consecutive Eerste Divisie defeats at the start of the campaign.

Eindhoven are one of five teams yet to get off the mark this season, however their current position may be a false one as they’ve been a shade unlucky to come away from both of their games empty handed.

David Nascimento’s men were the better side for long periods on match day one away to city rivals Jong PSV, but eventually went down 2-1 after taking an early lead through Siebe Van der Heyden.

And last week, after going behind, they fought back into a tight home encounter with the progressive Go Ahead Eagles through Marcelo Lopes only to be edged out by the same score line.

Whilst it’s still early days, Eindhoven will be extremely keen to get some points on the board this week, against a team who they beat 3-2 at Jan Louwers Stadion last season.

That result came under the stewardship of Nascimento who took over in January and steered the club to a respectable 12th place finish in the table.

Ending Eindhoven’s 41 year consecutive stay in Eerste Divisie was always going to be a tall order this term with big guns such as Roda JC, Sparta Rotterdam and FC Twente in the Dutch second tier, however Blauw-witten fans would have been hoping that Nascimento and his side could build on the progress they made at the back end of 2017/18.

Providing their two slender losses so far offer motivation, Eindhoven could still take a further step forward this season, but a result here against Almere could be key to that happening.

Almere City have three points in the bag from their two matches and won’t be too disheartened after going down 1-2 at home to promotion candidates Roda JC last week.

There were plenty of positives to take from the close affair for boss Michele Santoni, including new signing Andreas Calcan getting on the score sheet.

Although Almere lost at Jan Louwers Stadion last season, they thumped FC Eindhoven 5-1 in the reverse fixture, and will be hoping to rediscover that form on Friday.

City did lose 12 of their 19 away fixtures in 2017/18 however, which is a nagging concern for us, despite their 2-3 victory over Jong AZ on the road a fortnight ago.

They conceded 46 goals in those 19 matches and that’s a telling stat when you consider that Eindhoven scored two goals per game at home during the previous campaign.

But for the moment, the hosts don’t stack up as a pretty betting proposition for us. What we can almost certainly guarantee this Friday is goals, as the teams have produced 28 in their last six meetings.

With five out of six of those producing over 3.5 goals, that’s the bet here, and we’re also chancing a 2-2 draw in the correct score market for small stakes.
