France To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

France have conceded just one goal in their last five home matches and look unlikely to be threatened by Ukraine, who face a bigger match against Iceland on Sunday.

France 2-0

Reason for tip

Les Bleus have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven matches and should match the 2-0 victory they posted in the reverse fixture.

France vs Ukraine Predictions

  • France have lost just one of their 13 games against Ukraine.
  • Les Bleus have scored at least twice in each of their last seven matches.
  • France have conceded just one goal in their last five home outings

Les Bleus should complete the job

Les Bleus, who came within a penalty shootout of winning the World Cup three years ago, will book their place at next summer’s extravaganza with a victory over Ukraine on Thursday and they should be able to navigate the assignment with minimal fuss.

Didier Deschamps’ team would not have had to wait until now had they not allowed Iceland back to earn a draw against them last time out in Reykjavik, but they are unlikely to make that mistake again against a team they have already beaten 2-0 in their attempt to reach next summer’s finals.

It is their defensive quality that provides optimism that the home side can get the job done as they have conceded just once in their lst five home matches, which was a 2-1 over Iceland in Paris when they finished the game with ten men.

Ukraine’s big game is a few days away

Ukraine have breathed life into their qualification campaign by claiming a 5-3 win in Iceland and a 2-1 win over Azerbaijan after they took just one point from their opening two games, which was a 1-1 draw in Baku.

They look set to face off against Iceland in Warsaw on Sunday with the potential prize of a playoff place, so it would be understandable if their minds were a little elsewhere as that showing will have a much bigger bearing on whether they qualify.

So expect France to win keeping another clean sheet and a repeat of the 2-0 Les Bleus win in September may be attractive for those looking for a correct-score interest.
