Heidenheim vs St Pauli Predictions

There may not be much excitement when Heidenheim host St Pauli in the Bundesliga on Saturday, and under 2.5 goals looks the best bet. There have been under 2.5 goals in five of St Pauli’s last seven league games, and while the last match between these sides had three goals, the two meetings last season both had under 2.5 goals.

St Pauli are two places above Heidenheim in the table, but both teams are struggling. Heidenheim, bottom of the league, have won just four of their 30 games this season, while St Pauli are 16th with six wins.

Heidenheim have scored an average of just 0.86 goals a game in their seven Bundesliga games against other teams in the bottom five this season and are yet to win any of those matches.

Heidenheim have recorded only one victory in their last ten games in the Bundesliga, but they were 3-1 winners over Union Berlin two weeks ago in their last home game. St Pauli are struggling to find a win too, having gone six games without recording a victory.

Both teams have been disappointing up front this season. Heidenheim have scored 33 goals in 30 games, while St Pauli’s struggles in attack are highlighted by the fact that no team has failed to score in more Bundesliga games this season than their 12 in 30, and no team has scored fewer goals than their 26 from 30 matches.

There have been under 2.5 goals in nine of St Pauli’s 15 Bundesliga away games this season, with their last three road trips all going under 2.5 goals.

St Pauli can edge this, with a 1-0 correct score in favour of the visitors looking like a decent bet. Five of their six Bundesliga wins this season were by a single goal and Heidenheim have lost by a single goal eight times.
