      Inter Milan vs Lyon Predictions

Inter Milan managed to make at least some level of improvement last season as they finished in the Serie A top four for just the second time in the last six seasons, but even with some relatively shrewd summer signings they simply don’t look capable of taking a real challenge to Juventus’ doorstep. They finished 23 points behind the dominant Turin side last season, and the limited strengthening of their team is unlikely to be enough to narrow that gap.

They have made a potentially excellent move in signing Radja Nainggolan for £34 million, but he will just replace the departed Geoffrey Kondogbia. Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez is a hot prospect in the attacking department, while both Federico Dimarco and the loan of Sime Vrsaljko just replace the full backs they have sold.

Realistically, a title challenge won’t be on their mind anyway, but their pre-season performances are troubling as well. They lost on penalties to Chelsea in their first International Champions Cup game, and while that isn’t a worrying result on it’s own it did follow a defeat and two draws. They beat Lugano in their first pre-season friendly, but then lost to Sion 2-0 and drew against both Zenit and Sheffield United.

Lyon will be a challenge for them as well. The Ligue 1 side have been very impressive going forward this summer, and that’s happened without their star man Nabil Fekir. The World Cup winner could potentially join his teammates here after an extended break and a small transfer saga, but even without him they pose a huge threat.

Lyon beat Benfica 3-2 in their first International Champions Cup game, with a goal at both ends from defender Marcelo and goals from Bertrand Traore and Martin Terrier. Prior to that they had beaten Wolfsburg 2-1 and Fulham 4-0, although they also drew with Sion and lost to Huddersfield.

It’s been an inconsistent set of results for the French side, but one thing that has been consistent is the goals at both ends of the pitch. Lyon have seen a huge 20 goals scored in their five pre-season games, with both teams scoring in all but one of them and at least three goals in all of them. If you look back into last season as well, Lyon have seen at least three goals in 11 of their last 12 games, so we’re expecting a high scoring affair here. A bet of Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score looks good value, along with a 2-2 correct score predictions.
