Ipswich vs Birmingham Predictions
Ipswich are the best bet to beat Birmingham at Portman Road on Monday. The visitors have lost on their last three Championship away games and Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna will be hopeful of getting a result against Chris Davies’ side.
Ipswich are fourth in the Championship, ten places and 16 points above Birmingham. Ipswich have won 19 of their 38 games this season, while Birmingham have 14 wins.
Birmingham could not break their losing habit last time, going down 1-0 to Blackburn on Friday in their last Championship outing. It was a surprise defeat for Birmingham, who were priced at 5/6 to win, and means they have now failed to win seven of the 15 games in which they have been odds-on this season. They have not had the best of luck in some of their recent games and hit the woodwork once in this one.
Ipswich have been impressive defensively at home this season, conceding just 14 goals in 20 Championship games – an average of 0.70 goals per game. No side has shipped fewer than the 39 goals that Ipswich have conceded in their 38 games overall.
Ipswich have only lost one of their last ten Championship matches, with their last defeat coming against Wrexham in February. They have gone 14 home games without tasting defeat and have lost just one of their last eight meetings with Birmingham.
Ipswich have been in goalscoring form, netting in 15 consecutive Championship games. They have found the back of the net in 22 of their last 23 matches, including a 3-3 draw with Stoke last month.
Birmingham are out of form, and backing their opponents during their current run of five defeats in seven Championship games would have resulted in a profit of 8.51 units.
The away side are enduring a rough spell. Birmingham are without a win in three Championship games and have failed to win six of their last seven. They have also gone three games without an away win.
The visitors have been disappointing in front of goal away from home this season, scoring just 15 goals in 20 games – an average of 0.75 goals a game on the road. Birmingham have lost their last three Championship games without finding the net.
Birmingham have shown defensive frailties in recent games, conceding on each of their last four Championship road trips and failing to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last ten matches. They have shipped 30 goals away from home this season – an average of 1.50 goals per game from 20 away games.
A 1-0 home success for Ipswich appeals in the correct-score market. Five of Ipswich’s last seven Championship games and each of Birmingham’s last five have seen under 2.5 goals, and the visitors have lost their last two matches by a single goal.
