Juventus vs AC Milan Predictions

Wednesday night sees a rematch of last season’s Coppa Italia final, as AC Milan travel to Juventus Stadium. This is the highlight of a fantastic round of matches in the quarter-finals. Will champions Juve be able to book a semi-final spot with a victory? Given that they have their eyes on the treble this season, reaching the last four is something Max Allegri will be demanding from his side.

However, Milan are the reason that Juventus are aiming for three trophies this season, and not four. The Rossoneri came out on top when these two met in Doha last month, as they battled it out for the Supercoppa Italiana. Despite coming in to that one as outsiders, AC took home the trophy to add gloss to their impressive season. Their strong campaign suffered a serious setback when they played Napoli at the weekend, but picking up a result in Turin would be an excellent way to get over that.

Milan’s victory in Doha isn’t the only time they’ve caused Juventus problems of late. Recent meetings between these two have all been very close, despite AC struggling for the past few years. The Coppa Italia final between these two went to extra time, while the Rossoneri won their last Serie A clash at San Siro back in October.

That victory came against a full strength Juve side, one they’re not likely to meet this week. The Old Lady made several changes for their last cup clash. That was a narrow 3-2 win over Atalanta at Juventus Stadium, with several fringe players featuring. Milan will be expecting to cause similar problems, since the hosts have conceded in 55% of their home matches in the league. On top of that, the Rossoneri have scored in 67% of their away trips. They should continue that scoring form against a weakened defence.

Milan don’t have the fixture congestion that Juve do, and they can’t afford to see a second string side thumped by the champions. We expect Vincenzo Montella to pit his strongest side against a reshuffled Juve, which is why we’re backing both teams to score at 19/20 with bet365. That’s also the reason that we’re tipping this game to go to extra time, just as the Coppa Italia final and Supercoppa Italiana game did. A 1-1 draw is our correct score tip at 6/1 with bet365.
