Kaiserslautern missed out on a promotion playoff place in the 2. Bundesliga by two points last season, but inconsistency has plagued their campaign this year. They have endured numerous losing streaks in the league and have struggled to put any winning streaks together, leaving them down in 11th in the table. They are 18 points adrift of the promotion playoff spot, so that ship has long sailed for them.

They recently broke out of one of their trademark poor runs of form, and they come into this match having won two and drawn one of their last three matches, a run which followed on from five straight defeats in the league.

RB Leipzig finished last campaign just below Kaiserslautern, but unlike their opponents they have improved their approach and now find themselves challenging for the top spot in the 2. Bundesliga.

They are four points adrift of leaders Freiburg but with a game in hand, and they have a six point cushion over the promotion playoff position. There is still time for that to change though, so the promotion hopefuls will have to keep the wins rolling in to secure a move up to the Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig have lost three of their last five away games in the 2. Bundesliga, while their opponents have only been defeated twice on home turf in their last nine outings. This makes odds of 10/11 for a Kaiserslautern Win or Draw Double Chance look excellent value, and I’m going for that along with a 1-1 draw at 6/1.
