Lazio and Monza both in need of a boost

Lazio and Monza both enjoyed strong seasons last term but are yet to find their respective form this year ahead of Saturday’s meeting in Rome.

The host finished in second spot last year and were involved in Champions league action on Tuesday, holding Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw at this venue. Lazio lost their opening two league games before a win over champions Napoli looked to be the start of a revival, but they then slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Juventus.

Monza can strike in defeat

Monza were strong travellers in Serie A last season but they are yet to get off the mark on their travels this season, losing 2-0 at Inter then 3-0 at Atalanta.

The visitors have four points to show from as many games and look set to fall short at Lazio, who won both meetings last term, despite the hosts’ struggles. Lazio have looked better across their last three games despite winning just one of those and the visit of Monza looks a good opportunity for them to kickstart their domestic season.

Monza are yet to score on their travels but they did create chances against the Nerazzurri and La Dea and can at least grab a consolation effort against a Lazio outfit who are still waiting for their first clean sheet.

A 2-1 win for Lazio is the correct score prediction as Maurizio Sarri’s side haven’t managed to score more than twice in any game yet this season. Luis Alberto is the clear contender for an anytime goal as the Spaniard has two goals and an assist in his last three outings for Lazio.
