Leeds vs Norwich Predictions

Leeds United took a step in the right direction on Saturday as a 70th minute goal from Roofe earned them three points in a tight game to Wolves. This made it two wins from their last five games in the Championship, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

Their over reliance on striker Chris Wood has been a problem when he’s failed to perform this season. The New Zealander has netted eight times in all competitions this season, with their next highest scorers being defender Kyle Bartley and Pablo Hernandez with two apiece. He has scored in four of Leeds United’s last eight outings, so he’s the main threat that Norwich have to deal with. We’re expecting Leeds to find the net though, so odds of 2/1 for him to score anytime look good value to me.

Norwich’s goals are coming from a more varied source, but none of their leading attackers managed to find the net on Saturday, as they lost 1-0 at home to Preston North End. This made it two defeats and one draw in their last five matches and pushed them down to 4th in the Championship after starting the day in 2nd.

Ignoring Norwich’s attacking talents comes at your own peril though. Cameron Jerome and Jacob Murphy have netted six and five goals respectively this season, although they have only played 63 minutes between them in Norwich’s two League Cup outings, so we could see Josh Murphy and Kyle Lafferty replacing them again in the starting line up on Tuesday.

This hasn’t stopped Norwich from two very impressive performances in the competition though. They hammered Coventry City 6-1 in their first round match and then beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park last time out.

Going forward, Norwich have been very impressive this season, even when away from home. They have scored 16 goals in their eight away games and only failed to find the net once. They have only kept one clean sheet though. Leeds have scored in all but one of their home games this term as well and only kept two clean sheets, so both sides should be able to find the net on Tuesday.

For this reason I’m backing Both Teams to Score at 3/4 as my main prediction. I do think Norwich’s high scoring ways will prove too much for Leeds to deal with though, so I’m going for a 2-1 win for the visitors at 17/2 as well.
