Leicester vs Newcastle Predictions

It just keeps getting better for Leicester. They managed to grind through another match against Watford last weekend, with a piece of magic by Riyad Mahrez proving enough to see off the defiant Hornets. With Arsenal and Spurs drawing in their North London Derby, this allowed Leicester to increase their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points with just nine games remaining.

This took their record to five wins, one defeat, and one draw in their last seven games in all competitions, and with 11 points between them and 5th placed West Ham they are almost guaranteed a Champions League spot next season.

It was a big day for Newcastle on Friday. Rafa Benitez was brought in to replace Steve McClaren at the helm of the club, and he now faces the daunting task of a relegation battle. Something he doesn’t really have experience in.

Making the switch from Real Madrid to a struggling Newcastle in under a season will be a strange experience, and he has to visit the Premier League leaders in his opening match in charge.

Newcastle themselves have lost five and won two of their last seven matches in the Premier League, but away from home they have lost seven matches on the bounce. This is a huge ask for Rafa Benitez, and a bit of spice is added to the mix when you take into account his fragmented history with fellow relegation candidates and north east rivals Sunderlands’ manager Sam Allardyce. We could be in for a very tasty relegation battle indeed.

Newcastle have lost 79% of their away games this season and have been defeated by two or more goals nine times on the road. This makes odds of 2.050 for a Leicester -1.0 Asian Handicap Win incredibly good value, and I’m going for a 3-1 correct score prediction at 12/1.
