Lille and Lens clash in Derby du Nord

There is little to separate Lille and Lens in the Ligue 1 table and it could be a cagey affair when these two meet in the Derby du Nord on Sunday.

Only PSG have conceded fewer goals than Lille’s 28 from 26 games this season and Lens have only allowed one more goal than that.

There have been fewer than three goals in six of Lens’ last eight Ligue 1 games and this looks likely to be another low-scoring clash.

Stalemate a big runner

Lille are still firmly in with a chance of a top-three spot despite their recent wobble, they have lost two of their last three matches but remain just three points behind Monaco at the time of writing.

Lens snapped a run of four defeats in a row with back-to-back 1-0 wins over Marseille and Rennes but are now eight points back of a Champions League spot and may have to settle for another European spot.

The visitors are the lowest scorers in the top half so it is not hard to see where their issues lie and under 2.5 goals looks a solid selection in this one.

Three of the last seven derby clashes between these two have ended in stalemate and correct score backers should side with a 1-1 draw.
