Lorient can keep home run going

Lorient have enjoyed two straight Ligue 1 successes at home and Olivier Pantaloni’s side can get another win when they host Auxerre on Sunday.

Lorient are ninth, seven places and 15 points above Auxerre, with eight wins, eight draws and seven losses from their 23 games this season. The visitors have four wins, five draws and 14 defeats.

Lorient look to have found the winning formula at home, having gone nine games without defeat in Ligue 1. They have won four of their last five on their own patch.

The hosts possess an attacking threat. Lorient have found the net at least twice in five of their last six Ligue 1 games and have averaged two goals a game in their six home games against bottom-half teams this season.

Auxerre’s recent form is a concern, with just one win in their last eight Ligue 1 matches.

They are finding it hard to score, failing to find the net in six of their last seven Ligue 1 games and in five of their last seven away matches. No team has failed to score in more games this season than Auxerre, with 13 goalless games in 23.

Auxerre have struggled defensively in recent games, failing to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last ten Ligue 1 matches.

A narrow 1-0 win for Lorient looks the most likely outcome in the correct-score market. Four of the last five Ligue 1 meetings between these sides have produced under 2.5 goals and, notably, five of Auxerre’s 14 defeats this season have come by a 1-0 scoreline.
