Metz vs Toulouse Predictions
Metz had been on a run of four consecutive wins ahead of their match on Wednesday against Saint-Étienne but they managed to put together a great performance to beat les Verts. It was a rather tight match without a lot of quality but Metz’s Habib Diallo managed to come up with the goods again and put the team ahead. Metz have scored six goals this season with five of them coming via the Senegalese. Metz’s victory was heavily aided by the recent misfortunes of Saint-Étienne though as they have been generally awful this season.
Metz have been very poor in chance creation with just an xG of 6.83 after seven games, the fifth worst tally in Ligue 1. Metz have scored just twice in their last five games, conceding nine times in the process and they will need to be wary of Toulouse despite their recent victory.
Toulouse have had a rather slow start to the season with two wins, two draws and three losses in their opening seven games. They lost again in midweek to a good Angers side (0-2) which followed up their poor defeat in Nîmes. They really haven’t been able to get a good bit of momentum going this season and have only really played well against poor teams like Amiens and Dijon.
Toulouse have actually been rather average in creating chances but their lack of clinical touch up front has cost them so far as they have scored just six times. They have been much worse at the back as they currently have the worst xGA numbers in the league with chances amounting to 12.57 conceded so far. Toulouse are winless in their last 13 away trips so this will be quite the challenge for les Violets.
Neither team has really inspired confidence so far but Metz seem to be playing with a bit more quality at the moment, especially with danger man Diallo up top. Toulouse don’t really have anyone dragging them forward at the moment so we’re backing Metz to get the victory here. Both sides are lacking in goals but with Diallo fit and ready, we’re backing Metz to get the win here 1-0. Metz had a great home record last season in Ligue 2 and have already beat Monaco at home this season so we’re backing them to edge this Toulouse side who are awful on the road.
