Montpellier to edge close encounter

Montpellier extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches, thanks to a 1-1 draw away at Nimes last weekend. Despite beating Dijon 3-1 last time out, Bordeaux are still 5pts and two places behind Montpellier in the Ligue 1 table.

Sunday’s hosts have a good recent record against Bordeaux, winning three and drawing one of the duo’s last four encounters in Ligue 1. Montpellier ran out 2-0 winners when these two sides clashed in November and will be confident of their chances of securing another 3pts this weekend.

Montpellier have form in their favour with three wins and three draws in their last six outings, not to mention the home advantage on Sunday. Bordeaux have seen four of their last six matches ended with under 2.5 goals being scored and in all of those games, they failed to find the back of the net.
