Notts County and Both Teams To Score

      Reason for tip

Notts will have their eyes on promotion after playoff heartache last season and they should be expected to win at Rodney Parade, where Newport won just two of their final nine games last term.

      Notts County 3-1

      Reason for tip

While Notts County look strong favourites, Newport scored two excellent goals in their League Cup game at Barnet on Tuesday and can at least get on the scoresheet, so go for a 3-1 away win.

Newport County vs Notts County Predictions

      • No team in League Two scored more away goals last season than Notts County’s total of 37
      • Both teams have scored in the Magpies’ last five league matches
      • Newport have won just two of their last nine league games at Rodney Parade

Magpies looking for a fast start

Notts County have to put the disappointment of playoff semi-final defeat behind them when they start the new League Two campaign on Saturday, but they should get off to a winning start at Newport.

Only champions Doncaster collected more points on the road in the fourth tier than the Magpies last term and they should gain some confidence from the 2-0 success they posted at Rodney parade at the end of March.

Despite the departure of veteran striker David McGoldrick, they have enough to get off to a winning start, particularly as their opponents won just two of their final 16 games of last term.

      Newport can at least threaten

Newport will be regarded as one of the favourites for relegation this season and while they may not be able to keep the Magpies at bay, it would not be a surprise if they found the net.

They have already had a competitive game, a 2-2 League Cup draw with Barnet when they won on penalties after conceding twice in injury-time.

Spectacular strikes from Cameron Antwi and Michael Reindorf will have given them belief, but an away win with both teams scoring looks an attractive bet, with those looking for a correct-score interest pointed towards a 3-1 away win.
