Tip Reasoning
The appointment of new manager Mark Cooper hasn’t paid any dividends yet. The drastically out of form side lost 4-0 to Portsmouth on Friday to further extend their winless run in League Two.
They have now lost seven and drawn one of their last eight outings in the league, a record which has seen them spiral into freefall in the League Two table. They come into this game in 19th position, 12 points clear of the relegation zone but 20 points adrift of the playoff spots.
Wycombe are the team occupying the last of these playoff positions, although a defeat on Monday could see the likes of Leyton Orient and Wimbledon leapfrog them in the table.
The visitors have kept a very tight ship this season, relying on the odd goal here and there to win them matches. They have only conceded five goals in their last nine matches in League Two, scoring a marginally better six at the other end.
Unsurprisingly, none of these nine games have seen any more than two goals scored, and seven of the nine matches have been settled by a single goal.
This is interesting, because after the new manager of Notts County saw his team give away four goals to Portsmouth due to defensive errors he will be making some changes at the back, both tactical and personnel wise. He will have been drilling his players defensively as well, so I can see this one being another low scoring match.
Odds of 3/4 for Under 2.5 Goals look really attractive considering Wycombe’s recent goalscoring and conceding record, and I’m backing that along with a 1-0 win for Wycome at 13/2.
