Encouraging signs in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Union may have only picked up one point in their opening two games of the season but there are plenty of encouraging signs for the side following those results. Their 2-0 loss to Dallas on the opening day saw them a little underprepared but they travelled to LAFC and grabbed a 3-3 draw in a match that they held the lead in three times.

That result against LAFC showed that the side could compete against the best teams in MLS but also highlighted the weaknesses in the defence. Union managed five shots on goal last weekend, scoring three and demonstrating their clinical nature in the final third. If they can improve defensively then this weekend looks like it could be a good one for The Union.

Disappointing start for The Earthquakes

San Jose Earthquakes haven’t had much enjoyment from their opening two games in 2020. The opening day draw with Toronto saw the side fight back from 2-0 down to claim a point but they were outplayed and outclassed by Minnesota United last weekend with the visitors running out 5-2 winners at Avaya Stadium.
