Poland vs Slovenia Predictions
With the group wrapped up, Poland are aiming to go out on a high on Tuesday night. The Group G leaders are three points clear and clear on head to head record, so they have no concerns going into the final night of the Euro 2020 qualifiers. However, there’s still the chance for them to claim a win and boost their chances of being seeded first in the draw later this month, which should fire up the home side here.
Poland have been brilliant in qualifying with seven wins from nine so far. However, it’s not quite the manner you’d expect them to be getting points. While Robert Lewandowski has scored in every Bundesliga game this season, his return for Poland in 2019 isn’t as great. The hosts have a respectable 15 goals in their nine matches, but they aren’t even the top scorers in the group.
With Poland getting results through solid defending, the visitors have a tough job on their hands here. A dismal Nations League campaign means that Slovenia have no chance of making the Euros this summer so they are signing off from competitive football for the best part of a year. They aren’t going to have too much going on until next Autumn’s Nations League. However, will they end 2019 with a flourish?
The visitors were able to win at the weekend, but their 1-0 win over whipping boys Latvia was far from impressive. That ended back to back defeats for the visitors, as their top two hopes went with losses to North Macedonia and Austria. Now they head to the group leaders, with Poland aiming for a spot of revenge against the only side in the group to beat them.
Poland have been formidable at home so far, so we don’t expect a repeat. They’ve conceded just three times in nine matches, while they’ve kept four clean sheets from four at home. With Slovenia losing two of their last three, we think they’ll striggle here. They’ve claimed just four points on the road this term without impressing, while Poland are looking excellent in defence. With that in mind, a home win to nil is our pick here.
We’re also going with a 1-0 victory for Poland, seeing as 11 of Slovenia’s last 15 trips have finished with under 2.5 goals. They were beaten 1-0 home and away by Austria, while we expect Poland to grab a goal to get themselves over the line with a win. We’re backing a 1-0 home win as our correct score tip in this one.
