Leipzig can maintain home dominance against Leverkusen

Leipzig have enjoyed six straight successes at home and Ole Werner’s side should be backed to beat Kasper Hjulmand’s Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

They are second in the league, two places and three points above Bayer Leverkusen, with both teams having won more games than they’ve lost this season.

Leipzig are in good form at home, having gone six games unbeaten in the Bundesliga. They have lost just one of their last ten on their own patch.

The hosts have been hard to break down this season, keeping three shutouts in their last four games in the Bundesliga. Leipzig have been impressive defensively at home, conceding just three goals in six matches – an average of 0.50 goals per game.

Leipzig will be hopeful of getting on the scoresheet, having been impressive in front of goal at home this season. They have scored 18 goals in six games, averaging three goals a game, and have scored at least twice in all six of their Bundesliga home games.

The visitors have looked vulnerable at the back. Bayer Leverkusen are on a run of nine Bundesliga away days without recording a shutout and have yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season, conceding 13 goals in six road games – an average of 2.17 goals per game.

A 1-0 win for Leipzig looks a decent correct-score option. Five of Bayer Leverkusen’s last seven Bundesliga games have ended with at least one of the sides failing to score and Leipzig have won two games 1-0 this season.
