This has the makings of a really good game with matches involving these clubs producing lots of goals in recent weeks. Real Sociedad come into the match as strong favourites but an abject showing from them on Monday night suggests Valencia will give them a good run for their money.

La Real had been in stunning form, winning 5 out of 6 matches in all competitions heading into their game at struggling Deportivo La Coruna on Monday. However, they sank to a shock 5-1 defeat in a result nobody could really have foreseen. Perhaps the Basques were starting to believe their own hype with some talk that they could be top four contenders having seemingly shaken off their inconsistent tag that has plagued them in recent seasons. Either way it highlighted there are still defensive issues that Valencia may be able to exploit.

At the other end they are looking good though. Sociedad have scored 1.64 goals per game this season and 1.71 at home. They’ve only failed to score in 14% of their games this term so a home goal or two looks almost guaranteed against a Valencia side that is very weak at the back.

They’ve only failed to score in one of their last 12 away games and given the way Sociedad defended on Monday, you’d sense that will continue here.

However, Valencia simply don’t do clean sheets. It’s just one clean sheet in a ridiculous 42 league games for them now and given that, backing both teams to score at 3/4 is surely the way to go here.
