Seattle Sounders vs Philadelphia Union Betting Tips & Predictions

Seattle Sounders didn’t have the best of starts to 2016, but they look like they’re starting to turn it around now. They began their season by being knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions League by Club America, and things didn’t get any better when the MLS campaign began.

They lost to Sporting Kansas City, Real Salt Lake, and Whitecaps in their opening three matches, with two of these defeats being on home turf too. Their turnaround began at the start of April as they beat Montreal Impact 1-0 at home, and they followed it up with a 1-1 draw at Houston Dynamo last weekend.

However, a return of just four points from five games for Seattle Sounders is pretty dismal, and unless they pick up the pace considerably they could well find themselves struggling to make the playoffs.

Philadelphia Union missed out on the playoffs last year after finishing 9th in the MLS Eastern Conference, and it looked like it could be another fruitless season for them as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at FC Dallas on the opening day of the season.

This defeat was somewhat expected, but Philadelphia Union didn’t let it get them down too much. They bounced back with a win at Columbus Crew and followed it up with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to New England Revolution. They were handed their 2nd defeat of the season at Chicago Fire at the beginning of April, but bounced back once again last weekend with a win against Orlando City.

This leaves them 2nd in the MLS Eastern Conference, and if they maintain this points per game average then they are certain to make the playoffs this term.

Philadelphia Union have won three of their last five away games as well, while Seattle Sounders have only managed one home win in their last four attempts. They did manage their first win of the season recently, but I think Philadelphia Union’s early season confidence building could pay dividends on Sunday. Odds of 23/20 for a Philadelphia Union Win or Draw Double Chance look incredibly good value too, and I’m going for that along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 6/1.
