Sirius can cause an upset

Both teams have scored in three of IFK Gothenburg’s last four outings and that looks the best bet when they face Sirius at Studenternas IP on Sunday. IFK Gothenburg are six places above Sirius in the table, with a nine-point gap separating the two sides. The hosts are 13th with just three wins so far, while Gothenburg sit seventh with seven victories.

Sirius are struggling to find a win, having gone three Allsvenskan games without recording a victory, while IFK Gothenburg have been winners on four of their last six away days.

Sirius lost 2-1 to Mjallby last Monday in their last Allsvenskan outing and the defeat maintained their run of matches with both teams scoring to seven BTTS in a row. Mjallby created enough chances to have won by a wider margin.

The visitors will fancy their chances of scoring here. IFK Gothenburg have averaged 2.50 goals a game in their four away games against bottom-half teams this season and have scored an average of 1.88 goals a game in their eight overall matches against sides in the lower half of the table.

Six of the last seven times that Sirius have hosted IFK Gothenburg in the Allsvenskan have ended with both sides scoring and, with the hosts struggling at the back this season, that looks like the best bet again on Sunday.

Sirius have conceded 27 goals this season in the Allsvenskan, averaging 1.80 goals against per game, and have failed to keep a clean sheet in 19 of their last 20 league games. IFK Gothenburg have not kept a clean sheet in their last four matches.

Sirius may be able to edge out IFK Gothenburg in a closely-fought game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. No team has had more overs games than Sirius in the Allsvenskan this season, and five of Gothenburg’s seven defeats have been by a single goal.
