Stoke vs Swansea Predictions

Stoke have finally managed to rid themselves of the awful run of form that they were on at the start of the season. They went eight Premier League games without a win, although draws against West Brom and Manchester United did indicate that they were finding their feet.

Their 2-0 win over Sunderland a couple of weeks ago saw them pick up their first three points, and they followed that last weekend with a replica result against the out of form Hull. Now they face yet another out of form side in Swansea, and they will certainly feel confident about getting another win on Monday.

The key to Stoke’s recent success has been the emergence of their midfielders after a very slow start to the season. Xherdan Shaqiri bagged a brace last weekend to make it three goals this season for him, whilst Joe Allen got both goals against Sunderland the weekend before to increase his tally to four for the season. Three of Allen’s four goals have come on home turf as well, so at odds of 9/4 with bet365 he looks an excellent choice for an anytime goalscorer.

Swansea’s summer signings haven’t really found their feet yet. Borja Baston has been recovering from injury for a lot of the season but has still only scored one in his five appearances. Leroyr Fer remains their main threat with four league goals to his name, and considering two of those have come in his four away days, odds of 4/1 for him to score anytime look very reasonable.

The visitors are in awful form though. They managed a goalless draw at home to Watford last weekend to break out of their five match losing streak, but they remain winless in their last eight games in all competitions and haven’t won a Premier League game since the opening day of the season.

Away from home they have lost three in a row now, and the newly appointed manager Bob Bradley hasn’t shown many signs of turning their awful form around just yet. Considering Stoke are high on confidence, after back to back victories got them off the mark, I think this could be a really tough match for Swansea. Odds of 11/10 for a home win look really good value as well, so I’m backing that along with a 2-1 correct score prediction at 17/2.
