Switzerland vs Bosnia Predictions
This could be quite a good contest between two fairly evenly matched sides. Switzerland are the only one going to the Euros though and they’ll be hoping for a better result than their 1-0 defeat in Dublin last week. They beat Austria away but lost in Slovakia in their Autumn friendlies having qualified from their group relatively comfortably despite 2 defeats to England. Their 2-0 defeat to England in 2014 is their only defeat in 16 home matches so they are tough to beat at home although the opposition has rarely been of the highest quality.
Bosnia may feel like they have something of a point to prove after the disappointment of their failure to reach Euro 2016 following some poor group results and a play-off loss to Ireland. They were convincing 3-0 winners in Luxembourg on Friday although it did take them 73 minutes to open the scoring. They will be up for this and have only lost twice in 10 outings since the start of 2015 so they are still a tough side to beat.
Both teams have fairly experienced squads to choose from although there are sure to be plenty of substitutions with the managers looking to experiment a little. You’d be hard pressed to say that Switzerland are a definitively better side than Bosnia, who can call on the likes of Roma duo Edin Dzeko and Miralem Pjanic. Switzerland are without a really top level striker and rely too heavily on Xherdan Shaqiri for goals and creativity and he is again likely to be absent here. Given that and also the unpredictable nature of friendlies, the Swiss look a little short at odds on to win this. Therefore consider backing Double Chance – Draw or Bosnia-Herzegovina at 21/20.
