Villarreal look to continue their impressive run
Villarreal host Granada at Estadio de la Ceramica on Wednesday night with both sides harbouring European ambitions this season.
Villarreal have been able to maintain a place in the top four for the majority of the season so far and they have won 11 points from a possible 18 to keep their place in the top four. They’ve lost just once in their last 25 games in all competitions and will be looking to lengthen that run ahead of some key fixtures.
Granada have been the side that has performed above expectations most this season with the side currently sitting in seventh position and standing a decent chance of qualifying for the Europa Conference League next season. They’ve lost three of their last six though, a run that has stopped them making the leap into the top six.
Villarreal have performed superbly in their own half this season, conceding less than a goal a game and they look very confident in closing out games. Granada, on the other hand, have conceded 1.61 goals per game on average, a statistic that could cost them European football next season. Villarreal will be looking to make and impression though and we’re predicting the home side will score more than 1.5 goals.
Granada tend to struggle away from home, with just seven points gained from a possible 24 on the road this season. We can’t see that changing this week and we’re forecasting a 2-0 win for Villarreal as they continue their match towards Champions League football.
