Watford vs Bournemouth Predictions

Watford were hoping to make it a trio of impressive wins last weekend when they paid a visit to the newly promoted Burnley as firm favourites for the win. This game followed a fantastic comeback as they won 4-2 away to West Ham and a 3-1 victory over Manchester United at Vicarage Road.

The Watford players didn’t turn up to the party though and ran out 2-0 losers against the underdogs. This makes it two wins, one draw, and three defeats in the Premier League so far this season, and they were also beaten in extra time by Gillingham in the League Cup.

This puts them in 11th position in the Premier League, but the Hornets will be hoping to build on their back to back victories recently and push on in the league. If they can rediscover the form they showed against West Ham and Manchester United they should be in for a successful afternoon.

Bournemouth managed to get an unexpected win at home to Everton last weekend though, beating the in-form Toffees 1-0 to bounce back from their League Cup exit at the hands of Preston.

Prior to that they had suffered a predictably heavy defeat at Manchester City, but another 1-0 win over West Brom the weekend before illustrates their ability to grind out results at home.

Overall Bournemouth have won two, drawn one, and lost three of their six Premier League matches, beating Morecambe and losing to Preston in the League Cup as well.

Both of these victories came at home though, and in the league they have lost two and drawn one of their three away days. Watford did lose to Chelsea and Arsenal at Vicarage Road, but those tough fixtures aren’t really indicative of their ability there. They managed to beat Manchester United in their last home match as well, and getting any points from this extremely tough home start to the Premier League can be classed as a success.

Watford have looked decent at home so far this season despite their tough fixtures. They only lost 2-1 to both Arsenal and Chelsea, and considering Bournemouth’s last away game was a 4-0 thrashing at the Etihad I think Watford have the advantage here. Odds of 5/4 for the hosts to get the win are very good value, and I’m backing a 2-1 correct score prediction at 9/1 as well.
