West Ham United and Both Teams To Score

      Reason for tip

West Ham boast arguably the best attack in the Championship and they should have too much firepower for Charlton. However, the Addicks have themselves netted five goals across their opening two games and can breach a Hammers defence lacking in clean sheets.

      West Ham United 3-1

      Reason for tip

West Ham opened their campaign with a 3-1 home success over Portsmouth in the EFL Cup and they can replicate that scoreline on Saturday. The Hammers scored three on Charlton’s only previous visit to the London Stadium, but their leaky defence means the Addicks should at least get on the scoresheet.

West Ham United vs Charlton Predictions

      • West Ham have kept only one clean sheet in seven games
      • The Hammers beat Portsmouth 3-1 on home soil in the EFL Cup
      • Charlton have started the season by scoring five goals in two matches

Hammers should secure first league win

West Ham were left frustrated in their first Championship match for more than 14 years, as they let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 at fellow relegated side Burnley.

However, the Hammers, who got their campaign underway with a 3-1 home success over Portsmouth in the EFL Cup, should be able to bounce back when London rivals Charlton visit the London Stadium.

Charlton have started the season strongly, beating League Two Cheltenham in the cup before coming from behind to see off Derby in their league opener, but their only previous visit to the London Stadium ended in a 3-0 EFL Cup defeat in September 2020.

Addicks can breach host’s less than convincing defence

Charlton have scored five goals across their opening two fixtures and they will be confident of breaking down a West Ham backline that has only kept one clean sheet in seven games.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had the third-worst defensive record in the Premier League last season – a contributing factor in their relegation – and Portsmouth and Burnley have proven their vulnerabilities at the back remain.

West Ham have the attacking firepower to win this game, but Charlton can contribute to a lively London derby, with a 3-1 victory for the Hammers – just like they achieved against Portsmouth – appealing in the correct score market.
