Wigan vs Birmingham Predictions
Tip Reasoning
- Wigan have seen under 2.5 come in in six of their last seven games
- Five of Wigan’s six wins have been by a one goal margin
- Birmingham have scored two goals in their last five games
- Birmingham have gone their last 12 games without a draw (3W, 9L)
Wigan fighting for survival
Wigan are bottom of the league as things stand, albeit level on points with both other teams in the relegation zone, and are four points away from Cardiff who occupy the first safe spot. Part of Wigan’s struggles this season has been due to a lack of goals, averaging just 0.71 goals scored per game at home. Birmingham meanwhile have also struggled for goals this season, with an average of 1.12 goals per game this season, falling below the league average.
Under 2.5 goals has been a winner in six of Wigan’s last seven games, and in 59% of their home games this season, and this trend could be set to continue as they face a Birmingham side who have scored just two in their last four games.
Two struggling sides
Birmingham City travel to Wigan on Saturday on a run of four straight defeats, and having lost nine of their last twelve games. Wigan, on the other hand, have just one win in their twelve games, but have picked up important points against high-flying Blackburn and Millwall, as well as Bristol City, Norwich and Cardiff in that time.
This is a difficult game to call given the poor form of both teams, but with Wigan having lost just one of their last five games, they will be desperate to keep this form going and to pull themselves closer to safety. As a result, a 1-0 win for the hosts looks good here.
