Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

The Racecourse Ground provided plenty of entertainment last season, with six of Wrexham’s final eight home matches of 2025-26 featuring at least three goals. Watford conceded 12 in their final three matches of last season, but they scored twice against Southampton in their league opener and can contribute to an entertaining game.

      Wrexham 2-1

      Reason for tip

In a match that should provide goals, preference is for Wrexham to claim a 2-1 success given Watford ended last season with five consecutive away defeats. Wrexham scored exactly two goals in five of their final seven home matches last term but kept only two clean sheets during that run.

      Wrexham vs Watford Predictions

      • Six of Wrexham’s final eight home matches of last season featured a minimum of three goals
      • Watford ended last season with five consecutive away defeats
      • Both of last season’s meetings between these sides featured four goals

      Contrasting starts to new season

Wrexham will be hoping their opening home match of the season will bring about a first win as they prepare to welcome a Watford side to the Racecourse Ground who have begun the campaign with back-to-back victories.

The Red Dragons followed up a road defeat at Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup with a 1-1 draw at Welsh rivals Cardiff in their Championship opener – a match they led in for more than 90 minutes before conceding a 98th-minute equaliser.

By contrast, after edging past League Two Crawley in the cup, Watford claimed a notable 2-1 home success over Southampton to make it two victories on the bounce for new head coach Alessio Dionisi.

      Goals expected at the Racecourse

On early season form, Watford would fancy their chances of leaving North Wales with a victory, but the Hornets ended last season with five consecutive road defeats so are difficult to trust.

Instead it could be worth siding with goals, as six of Wrexham’s final eight home matches of last season featured a minimum of three goals, while Watford conceded 12 times across their final three games of 2025-26.

It is also worth noting that both of last season’s meetings between this pair featured four goals, with December’s 2-2 draw at the Racecourse being followed by a 3-1 home success for Watford in Match – that proved to be the Hornets final win of the campaign.
