      Bayern Munich vs Liverpool Predictions

It goes without saying that Bayern Munich are a team who are used to winning, but their run of six consecutive Bundesliga titles has been put under serious threat this season thanks to their poor showing at the start of the season.

After their 6-0 demolition of Wolfsburg at the weekend, Die Roten currently sit top of the table on goal difference alone, with Borussia Dortmund putting up a really good title challenge thus far.

However, Bayern’s form at the moment is a far cry from their poor showings earlier in the season. They held Liverpool to a useful goalless draw at Anfield last month, and they have now won six of their last seven competitive games. Things get even more promising for them looking at their form at the Allianz Arena, where they have won seven matches on the trot and haven’t lost since October.

This will come as bad news for Liverpool, because they haven’t been quite up to their usual standard of late. They showed a rare defensive lapse against Burnley at the weekend, and while they still managed to win that game 4-2, it did display some alarming warning signs for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The visitors have only won five of their last 12 competitive matches, and while they are a very difficult side to beat, they haven’t looked quite so comfortable away from home this season. In fact, they have managed just a single win in their last six competitive away games, and their showings in the Champions League group stages were appalling at times.

Liverpool lost all three of their group stage away games, failing to score against both Napoli and Red Star Belgrade in the process. They haven’t won a Champions League game away from Anfield in 11 months now, and they’re facing a Bayern side who have an incredible home record in the competition.

The hosts have won an incredible 22 of their last 26 home Champions League games, and the only team to have beat them at the Allianz Arena in that time are Real Madrid in each of the last two seasons. Considering Liverpool’s recent downturn and their previous performances away from home in the competition, backing a Bayern Munich Win looks excellent value for money alongside a 2-0 correct score prediction.

We’re also opting for Robert Lewandowski to get on the score-sheet. The Polish striker has notched eight Champions League goals already this season, and he has scored an incredible 23 goals in his last 22 Champions League games at the Allianz Arena. This includes nine goals in his last 10 home appearances in the knockout stages, so he looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
