Bury vs Exeter Predictions

We may still be fairly early in the season but with Lincoln City and MK Dons setting a fairly relentless pace at the top of League Two, it is already massively important for the chasing pack to not drop any unnecessary points if they are to close the gap and challenge for the title. This weekend, two of the sides hoping to do exactly that come face to face as Bury welcome out of form Exeter City to Gigg Lane.

Bury could move up to third with a win over Exeter this weekend but defeat could see Ryan Lowe’s men drop out of the League two top six. It is a sign of just how tight things have been in the chasing pack this term but the hosts are one of the most in form sides in the division at the moment having claimed an impressive 15 points from their last eight matches. Last weekend’s 1-0 win away at fellow promotion hopefuls Mansfield Town will have done their confidence no harm whatsoever and they will be looking to back that result up with another three points.

A winless run of three League Two matches has left Exeter City just outside the top six but victory at Bury could move them up to fifth. It is all quite the fall from grace for the Grecians as their early season form had them right up at the top with Lincoln City, but a dip in their form has allowed the chasing pack to catch up and they know that if this continues then they will soon be out of the play-off places as well. A major part of their problems in this recent run has come about as a result of their inability to find the back of the net and they have managed just five goals in their previous six matches.

With the hosts at the top of their game and their visitors seemingly incapable of getting three points in the league at the moment, it is hard to imagine anything other than three points for Bury. When you add to this the fact that they have such a healthy record in the head to head between these two sides, then we think that backing a home win is the only way to go in this fixture.
