Eintracht Frankfurt to Win

Reason for tip

Frankfurt come into this game on a run of six wins in their last nine matches, including three in a row after defeating Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 at the weekend. They face a Marseille side who have suffered successive 1-0 defeats to Lens and PSG, while nine of their last ten away Champions League fixtures have ended in defeat

Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0

Reason for tip

Marseille find goals hard to come by on the road in the Champions League, failing to score in seven of their last nine away games in the competition, while they have lost their last two fixtures in Ligue 1 1-0. Frankfurt meanwhile are scoring goals by the bucket load at the moment and recently beat Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin 2-0 at home, one of two clean sheets in their last three outings at Commerzbank-Arena

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Marseille Predictions

  • Frankfurt are on a run of three successive victories
  • Marseille have lost three of their last four matches
  • Frankfurt have only suffered two home defeats in their last eight European games

Frankfurt looking to keep their run going

Last year’s Europa League champions Frankfurt have not found life easy in their first campaign in the Champions League group stages, but they are still in with a shot of reaching the knock out stages.

The German outfit have won one of their opening four games, but head into this game on a run of three successive victories, and six successes in their last nine outings.

Those recent wins include a 5-1 thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen and 3-1 defeat of Borussia Monchengladbach, while they have only lost three of their eight home outings this season – one of which was to Bayern Munich.

Marseille struggling for form

While Frankfurt have won three in a row, Marseille suffered their second successive defeat at the weekend, going down 1-0 to Lens.

Igor Tudor’s side, who sit in second place in the group, one point behind leaders Spurs and two clear of bottom places Frankfurt, have actually only registered four wins in their last ten.

And they also have a terrible away record in the Champions League, with a 2-0 victory at Sporting last time ending a run of nine successive defeats.

I predict that Frankfurt will win this game, with 2-0 to the hosts my correct score prediction.
